In a world filled with objects, the question is not what to design, but what design is.
To design means using materials from your surroundings to fulfil a certain need. In essence, design is assigning functions to materials. At the same time, all the materials that can be found in the surroundings of the modern man are already in the shape of products and have already been assigned functions. The PREMIUM BANANAS collection is a reaction to the abundance of existing products. The objects in this collection are a direct translation of other possible functions the most common abundant products could have. A cardboard box becomes a table. A pallet becomes a sofa. The abundance of existing objects is an ingredient that leads to a completely new kind of products. The recognisability of the iconic products is used and played with. Visual elements of different products become intertwined in one design. The shape and function of different kinds of objects become mixed with each other and functions are no longer defined but open for new interpretations. By combining existing product elements and adjusting these with various industrial and artisanal processes, the meanings of the shapes change, causing confusion about what the product is. This confusion forces the viewer into thinking about the possible functions products can have, showing that a product does not have just one meaning; it can be more than that.
